When Should My Kitten Be Vaccinated?

If you have just welcomed a new litter of kittens into your home or adopted a new one, you may be wondering how often the kitten needs to be vaccinated. Regular vaccinations are vital to the health and well-being of your new family member. Here is the information you need to know about kitten vaccinations.

Eight Weeks

Your kitten's first vaccinations should be administered between the ages of six to eight weeks. The vaccinations your kitten will receive during this stage include rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia and chlamydia vaccines.

12 Weeks

The next vaccines should be administered four weeks after the first vaccines, or by the age of 12 weeks. At this time, your kitten will receive their second dosage of the rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia vaccines. They will also receive their first dosage of the feline leukemia vaccine.

16 Weeks

The last kitten vaccines are due four weeks after the last ones, or by the age of 16 weeks. During this appointment, your kitten will receive their second feline leukemia vaccine and their rabies vaccination.

The timing of your kitten's vaccinations is important. They need the shots timely to ensure they are vaccinated against these conditions which can be harmful to them. But at the same time, the vaccines need to be spread out so as to not over-vaccinate and harm your kitten. While it may be time-consuming, ensuring your kitten gets their vaccines at the correct time is important.
